The Day After Thanksgiving

The day after my husband and I have fully stuffed ourselves with turkey, we decorate our entire house for Christmas and wrap all of our Christmas gifts. Yes, we make sure we are done Christmas shopping by that time. My husband hates crowds, but loves Christmas shopping, so we always do it in the beginning of November before most shoppers have hit the stores. The Beginning

Technically, I was in elementary school the first time I had my fiction published. I wrote a story based on true events about my younger sister's back surgeries. It was titled Alicia's Alarm , and the short story was published in Guideposts for Kids Magazine. Though years have passed from that time to now, I have always enjoyed writing. I received a journalism degree from Rowan University, and I have spent a lot of time freelancing for newspapers. I've always loved fiction, though, and have pages of notes on novels I have been writing and intend on writing. I am now excited to have my first novel, Future Vision , being published through Metal Lunchbox Publishing. Future Vision is a young adult novel with a science fiction base and a romance plot sure to thrill pre-teen and teenage girls. Check back soon to learn more about Future Vision .

Description of Future Vision

Here's how I described Future Vision in my query letter to Metal Lunchbox Publishing: Samantha Bell is an ambitious high school student when she visits the Future Vision attraction at a state fair. This attraction allows viewers to see up to twenty seconds of highlights of their personal future. However, for safety reasons, viewers must ingest a dissolvable pill afterward, causing them to forget what they had just witnessed. Samantha tries to take the future into her own hands, though, when she smuggles a pen inside the attraction. Although she was forced to forget what she had seen, she leaves the attraction with three words written on her hand: Snow, fight, and ca. She knows that she has to figure out what those three words mean before the event they’re about occurs and her future is ruined.

The Summer is Over

The summer is officially over for me. My husband, an elementary school teacher, went back to work today. While I will miss our summertime activities and the flexibility of our joint schedule, the fall will get me back on a regimented work schedule. Working at home, I have to be sure that I am somewhat strict with myself so that I don't end up watching 30 episodes of House Hunters on HGTV or just reading Diana Gabaldon's The Fiery Cross and getting no work done on my own book. (That is a really good book, though!) The fall is really pretty where I am. When I write on my laptop at the dining room table, I can see a big tree in my backyard through the back door. It turns all sorts of beautiful colors in the fall, and it makes me feel very comfortable, happy, and imaginative. Also, as an added bonus, at least my oldest dog loves messing with dried leaves, and so I will be able to actually write for blocks of time without one of them whining at me for...
